The best way to learn is by example.
To begin, save this page to your computer so you can edit it. To save the page, click "File", then "Save As", and save the page to your desktop as "test.html" Choose the option, save as "web page, complete". This will save the picture of the computer as well. Now, to edit the file, just right click on it, and choose "Open With", and then select a text editor, such as wordpad or notepad. wordpad is a better program. Either will open the file so you can see all the code. NOTE: If you left click the file, it will open with a browser, and that's normal, but it will display like you see here. In order to edit webpages, you need a text editor (like above), or a web authoring program, which we cover in Day 3 of The Web Boot Camp Challenge. For right now, try making changes to the page text and links using your text editor. When you want to view your changes, left click on the file to open it in your browser. HINT: to change colors of the page background and fonts, you will notice the use of numbers, like #000000 - this is the HTML code for black. You may also use common color names instead, so instead of #000000, type in blue, or black, or white, but remember, your text must be a contrasting color to show up. White text on a white page will be invisible. For a comprehensive list of html color codes, click here. Below are two link types:
